Engineering graduate Alan Grummitt said his UQ education helped him get to a position in life where he could afford to give back.
“I’ve never been a big giver, but I’ve donated to UQ regularly for the past 50 years,” Mr Grummit said.
Graduating in 1962, Mr Grummitt started his career purchasing a small engineering consultancy. It has since grown into an international, award-winning firm.
Mr Grummitt said he felt his UQ education had put him on an equal footing with engineers from around the world.
“Such high standards inspired me to support the institution that changed my life,” Mr Grummitt said.
Mr Grummitt’s recent donations have gone towards the Advanced Engineering Building, a new facility at the St Lucia campus that will transform engineering education when it opens in 2013.
