Professor Brian O’Keeffe is inspired by UQ’s emerging research

What inspires you at UQ? Is it innovations in medical research, or seeing students achieve their educational dreams? Maybe it’s initiatives in the arts or teaching excellence?

In 2011, alumni, staff and friends found their inspiration, donating more than $340,000 to the Chancellor’s Fund Appeal. Now in its 20th year, the University’s annual fundraising program shows donors’ inspirations are as varied as they are enthusiastic.

Alumnus Professor Brian O’Keeffe chose to support emerging research, finding inspiration in the University that helped him start his own career.

“It is wonderful to know that my gift will support students in their studies and benefit Australia and the world.

The future is in good hands,” Professor O’Keeffe said.

Helping parents raise and care for their children was a source of inspiration for fellow graduate Anne-Marie Hryniuk. Ms Hryniuk donated to Triple P, the University’s world-renowned Positive Parenting Program. A child safety professional, Ms Hryniuk has seen firsthand the benefits of educating parents.

“Children are precious, and by donating to Triple P, I have helped provide parents and care-givers with proven tools to raise children in a safe and caring environment,” she said.
