UQ Research Scholarships for Continuing RHD Candidates (UQRS)

This scholarship scheme enables enrolling units to nominate research higher degree (RHD) candidates for a co-funded (60% UQ Graduate School and 40% enrolling unit) stipend scholarship at significant stages of their candidature, for example at confirmation of candidature or mid-candidature review stage. Candidates can be nominated at any time of the year.

International candidates may be nominated by their enrolling unit for a University of Queensland Research Scholarship (UQRS) provided they have a reliable source of funding to cover their tuition fees and OSHC for the duration of their candidature.

Contact the Postgraduate Coordinator or the Postgraduate Administrative Officer of your enrolling unit to inquire about the possibility of being nominated for a UQRS.

Objectives:
  • To enable RHD candidates who have demonstrated the strength of their research potential during their first 6 months (MPhil) or their first 12 months (PhD) of candidature or at their mid-candidature review stage to work on their research higher degree full-time with scholarship support.
  • To maximise the number of scholarships for continuing RHD candidates by sharing the costs between the UQ Graduate School and the enrolling units or other funding sources.
  • To affirm the importance of UQ’s milestone process rewarding those who have performed outstandingly during important stages of candidature.
Closing Date: There is no closing date and nominations may be submitted at any time to Research Scholarships.
