UQ is one of Australia's largest and most respected research institutions.  We have a wide network of outstanding researchers at the leading edge of discovery providing supervision and mentoring for over 4000 research higher degree students.  The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degrees offered by the UQ Graduate School enable our research students to seek original findings and create new knowledge in their discipline.

Engagement & Partnerships

Much collaboration and mutual benefit between industry and UQ occurs through a shared interest in specific areas of research.  UQ conducts more than 2330 research projects, with collaborators in more than 50 countries, and hosts more than 130 research centres.  UQ seeks engagement and partnerships with industry and government to create opportunities for research students in a wide range of areas.  Partnerships can be facilitated by ready-made scholarships or tailored to suit individual aspirations and organisational goals.

For more information on industry collaboration, contact the UQ Graduate School.

Research Commercialisation

Our PhD and MPhil students have access to UQ's research commercialisation organisation UniQuest Pty Ltd.  UniQuest is recognised as the most successful university technology transfer company in Australia and benchmarks in the top ten globally.

In conjunction with UniQuest, each UQ Faculty has a dedicated Manager of Innovation and Commercial Development who is responsible for identifying new intellectual property that has commercial potential and securing industry partners to commercialise it.

Research commercialisation competitions such as Trailblazer and Enterprize encourage a vigorous culture of entrepreneurship in our RHD cohort.  Our skills training program also harnesses UQ's research commercialisation expertise to benefit our research students and enhance the skill set they present to future employers.
