University of Queensland Research Scholarships (UQRS) for continuing candidates


Purpose: To provide a living allowance for high-quality research higher degree candidates at attainment of a progression milestone.

Value: $22,500 per annum (2010 rate). The UQRS is indexed annually.

Closing Date: None. All applicants who are nominated using the Interim Nomination for Scholarship form are considered for this scholarship.

Source of Funding: The University of Queensland.

Basis of Award: Performance during candidature to date; timeliness of attainment of progression milestone; capacity of enrolling academic unit to offer 40% co-contribution.

Eligibility: To hold this scholarship, you must

  • be a confirmed candidate.
  • attain a progress milestone by no later than
    • for the PhD program, 15 months FTE for confirmation, 30 months FTE for mid-candidature review, 45 months FTE for thesis review
    • for the MPhil program, 8 months FTE for confirmation, 16 months FTE for mid-candidature review, 21 months FTE for thesis review
  • if an international candidate, have a tuition fee scholarship (such as the IPRS or the UQIRTA).
  • not hold an Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) scholarship.
