Student Office Space

Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) Student Lounge
All Schools and Institutes provide their RHD students with office space at the time of enrolment.   On occasion, RHD students and staff may be required to move to alternative office space due to building renovations.

The Graduate School coordinates, on behalf of the Infrastructure Sub-Committee, a Postgraduate Reserve, a collection of office spaces in various buildings at St Lucia campus, reserved for use by RHD students.

The Postgraduate Reserve is a strategic buffer of space provided by the Infrastructure Sub-Committee (ISC) to alleviate displacements during building renovations and support the infrastructure needs of Schools or Institutes that do not have sufficient space for their RHD students.

The Postgraduate Reserve is allocated by the Graduate School, on behalf of the ISC. Allocations occur bi-annually around June/July of even-numbered years (e.g. 2010). Schools/Institutes with a Postgraduate Reserve allocation manage that space for the duration of the allocation. RHD students in these spaces should direct maintenance issues to the appropriate administrator in their School or Institute.

The Postgraduate Reserve consists of approximately 300 desk allocations distributed in the following buildings:

  • Hartley Teakle - Level 5 [map]
  • Gordon Greenwood - Level 6 [map],
  • General Purpose North - Level 4 [map],
  • General Purpose South - Levels 2, 3 & 4 [map]
  • Social Sciences - Level 3 [map],
  • Social Science Annexe - Level 1 [map]

The specific needs of RHD students vary by discipline, however guidelines for core office space requirements are described in the Infrastructure Support Guidelines.
