Distribution of RHD EFTSL

The distribution of EFTSL between schools and institutes represented on the advisory team and is negotiated between the schools, institutes and university centres involved. It should reflect not only advisory input but also the relative resource contributions of each school, institute or centre. It should also take into account administration of candidature, access to resources and consumables, and provision of facilities (including laboratory and/or office accommodation). The Postgraduate Coordinators and/or Centre Directors involved in the candidate's research program must agree on the distribution of EFTSL and advise the Research Higher Degrees Unit using the recommendation on shared EFTSL form. Unless otherwise advised, the University will attribute 100% of each candidate's EFTSL to the enrolling school/institute.

Academic Organisational Units (AOUs) may directly receive RHD EFTSL if they are

  1. a School,
  2. a University Institute that has been approved to enrol RHD candidates directly (in accordance with section 2.3.2 of HUPP 1.30.6, Policy and Procedures on the Establishment, Approval, Administration and Review of Institutes and Centres),
  3. a University Institute, or
  4. a University Centre.

Faculty centres, institute centres, and school centres cannot receive RHD EFTSL directly. Instead, RHD candidates associated with a centre are enrolled through the most relevant school (or institute, in the case of institute centres), and associated income allocated in line with established University funding guidelines.
