International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS)

Purpose: To provide tuition fee support to outstanding international research higher degree candidates.

Value: The IPRS covers the full cost of tuition fees and standard Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the candidate and their accompanying dependants.

Closing Date: None. All international applicants who request tuition fee financial support on their Application for Admission and Scholarship are considered for this scholarship.

Source of Funding: Australian Federal government.

Basis of Award: Academic merit; research experience and/or potential; match with University research strengths.

Eligibility: To hold this scholarship, you must

  • be an international applicant,
  • meet international student visa requirements as specified by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.
  • undertake a research project in an area of research strength at the University of Queensland.
  • not already have an academic qualification equivalent to or at a higher level than the research higher degree program you are undertaking.
  • not have held an Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) scholarship within the two years prior to commencing the IPRS.
  • not be receiving a scholarship for which course tuition is a component under any other scholarship scheme to which the Australian Government makes a substantial contribution.

Scholarship Rules: This scholarship confirms to the UQ Research Scholarship General Conditions except as follows.
