National Energy Essay Competition - Aleks Atrens

Aleks Atrens, a PhD candidate at the Queensland Geothermal Energy Centre of Excellence, was recently awarded the under 22 years of age prize in the National Energy Essay Competition. The essay, aimed at promoting thought in the younger generation on the future energy issues of Australia, required a submission of 10,000 words outlining a concrete prediction for Australia’s energy future. To be conveyed in layman’s terms, the prediction for the next forty years needed to consider the combined effects of social, political, technological, and environmental driving forces. Run by The Warren Centre, the essay competition saw broad interest, with more than 200 entrants from across the nation. Further details are available at: www.neec.org.au
