Virtual Private Network (VPN)

If you need to access The University of Queensland network and you are situated off-campus, then VPN is the only way to have full access to online resources. The VPN Client is a tool that enables your H, S & G Drives to be mapped on your computer, either laptop or desktop, so that when you connect to the Internet off site, you can access your work files.

Some parts of the UQ network have restricted options for web visitors from outside the local network (eg parts of the Library website). Using VPN allows you to avoid these limitations and gives you the same use of resources as when you are on-campus.

Antivirus software

As well as providing the software for all UQ computers, the new agreement with Sophos allows staff and students to have a free copy on their home computers.  Click here for instructions and download.
 

How to get help

Should a staff member have a support request this should be logged with the ITS Service Desk. Your call will be recorded and assigned an ITSM case number which will be emailed to you for future reference.  Your case will be prioritized and tracked to ensure SLA response times are met.  The helpdesk should always be the point of contact and staff should not contact computing support officers (CSO) directly.
