UQ Network
University network
The UQ Network connects the major sites of St Lucia, Ipswich, Gatton, Herston and PA Hospitals, and a variety of smaller sites such as Toowoomba. This network is managed by ITS on behalf of the University and is connected to AARNET (the Australian Academic and Research Network) for staff to access research facilities at other educational institutions in addition to the broader Internet. UQ connects to the Internet at very high speeds – over one gigabyte per second. Staff generally have access to 100 megabit per second connection speeds at their wall outlet. The University of Queensland also provides Wireless access to many locations around UQ.
Wireless Network
Wireless Network coverage maps for each site are:
Web DNS
ITS must enter each computer or laptop into the WEBDNS database specific to each school before network connectivity becomes available. Please contact the ITS Helpdesk who will assist with this procedure.
Using Personal Computers/Laptops on campus
ITS will connect your personal computer to the network and a network printer.
Support for personal computer equipment covers network connectivity only - no further support is available.
How to get help
Should a staff member have a support request this should be logged with the ITS Service Desk. Your call will be recorded and assigned an ITSM case number which will be emailed to you for future reference. Your case will be prioritized and tracked to ensure SLA response times are met. The helpdesk should always be the point of contact and staff should not contact computing support officers (CSO) directly.
