Mapping of Network Drives (Windows XP)

1.  Run VPN

 

2.  Highlight UQ-VPN and click on Connect
3.  Type in your UQ username and password and click OK.

To map and view your network drives:

1. Open up a Windows Explorer window by doing a right click on the Start Button and choosing Explore.
2. From the Menu at the top choose Tools » Map Network Drive.
3. Choose which drive letter is free and you would like to use from the Drive box.
4. To connect to your Home drive in the Folder box type: 

5. To connect to your school’s G drive type the path to the share pertaining to your school in the folder box :

6.  To connect to the campus M drive

7. You can choose to tick the box to connect your network drive on startup. Please see note below about this option.
8. Enter your UQ username and password (inserting UQ\ in front of your username) at the next prompt.
9. Your data storage area will now be mapped.

Note:  If choosing to map your network drive on startup your computer will always look for this drive whether you are connected to the Internet or not. If not connected to the Internet, there will be a message saying not all your network drives could be connected. This is not a problem, as it is preferable to having to map your drive every time you want to access it.

To Disconnect:  Double click on the padlock icon in the taskbar. This will open a VPN Client Staus box. Click on the Disconnect icon on the top left.
