Dual qualification with degree-
The Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (ACM40410) is offered through GVEC as a dual qualification for those students enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science majoring in Veterinary Technology.

AN ENHANCEMENT TO THE BACHELOR DEGREE
The embedding of the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing within the degree allows undergraduates to undertake the academic qualification with a vocational alignment to enhance the value of their Bachelor Degree. The Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, which is an ‘industry-based’ qualification, will provide you with a higher level of clinical skills in combination with underpinning knowledge of veterinary practice procedures - attributes sought after by many employers in the sector.

Enhanced clinical skills via the Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, are a distinct advantage in achieving employment in the industry, with graduates ‘fit for practice’ upon graduation. Candidates should expect that access to a veterinary clinic whilst undertaking study for this qualification will be essential for meeting assessment requirements.

The competencies of this course will be primarily aligned and delivered through the academic program ‘Bachelor of Applied Science’ (Veterinary Technology) through the University of Queensland. 

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE WITHOUT THE GAPS 
Gaps in knowledge and practical skills that are not covered in the degree will be covered during fortnightly meetings/tutorials with your trainer and gained through experience when placed within the industry.
On completion you will be able to apply OHS, safe working and quality assurance practices to industry standards and be able to perform the duties of a veterinary nurse working under minimal supervision.
