AHC40110 Certificate IV in Agriculture
This course is designed and offered to those wishing to enter the agricultural workforce or study further upon completion of their high school studies.

Description
This qualification allows individuals to develop post-trade skills and knowledge to become specialists within the agriculture industry.  It is designed to meet the needs of supervisors or team leaders in the agriculture industry.

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors.  Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Farm team leader
  • Farm supervisor
  • Shed supervisor
  • Agricultural retail team leader
  • Field technician
  • Trial or field experiment supervisor
  • Department of Primary Industries

Units of study
Completion of twelve (12) units made up of one (1) core unit and eleven (11) elective units.

Core Units:
AHCOHS401A   Maintain Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) processes

Elective Units: (indicative only)
Supervise work routines and staff performance
Supervise agricultural crop establishment
Plan and implement agricultural crop maintenance
Assess and monitor weed, pest and/or disease control programs
Minimise risks in the use of chemicals
Implement and monitor animal welfare programs
Implement and monitor a property improvement plan
Schedule irrigations
Set out conservation earthworks
Cost a project
Operate within a budget framework

Note:  the above core and elective units are indicative only and are subject to change.  To achieve the full qualification students will be required to achieve a competency in the correct units.
