UQG-VEC offers a range of agricultural related courses and workshops which can assist you to seek either a full qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or a skills upgrade through various levels of workshops which can lead to full qualifications or statement of attainment.

AHC30110 Certificate III in Agriculture

This course is designed and offered to high school students wishing to enter the agricultural workforce or study further upon completion of their high school studies.

Description
This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture.  The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production or cropping context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both.

Job Roles
Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

• Farm or station hand
• Field technician
• Trials or field experiments
• Department of Primary Industries
• Retail – e.g. irrigation, chemical, machinery, seeds

Units of Study
Completion of sixteen (16) units made up of two (2) core units and fourteen (14) elective units.

Core Units:
AHCOHS301A   Contribute to OHS processes
AHCWRK313A   Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices

Elective Units: (indicative only)
• Control Weeds
• Control plant pests, diseases and disorders
• Prepare and apply chemicals
• Transport, handle and store chemicals
• Perform routine manual metal arc welding
• Coordinate machinery and equipment maintenance and repair
• Supervise work routines and staff performance
• Establish agricultural crops
• Undertake preparation of land for agricultural crop production
• Operate tractors
• Troubleshoot irrigation systems
• Operate pressurised irrigation systems
• Measure irrigation delivery system performance
• Implement feeding plans for livestock
• Administer medication to livestock
• Keep records for a primary production business

Note:  the above core and elective units are indicative only and are subject to change.  To achieve the full qualification students will be required to achieve a competency in the correct units.

Alignment to the Queensland Certificate in Agriculture
