Environmental Park Precinct

This area of the University of Queensland's Gatton Campus is being developed to:

  • Provide a natural outdoor teaching and research space;
  • Improve the amenity and aesthetics of the Gatton Campus;
  • Provide a feature that will help attract future students to the Campus;
  • Provide a facility that promotes the reputation and integration of the University into the community;
  • Provide a cultural link between teaching and learning and the local ecology; and
  • Provide habitat for a range of native animals.

The project to develop the Environmental Park has included the establishment of two bird hides, walking tracks, boardwalks and importantly planting of a range of species to form a number of plant communities
That will provide different habitats for fauna endemic to the region.

Greening Lockyer a partnership of Powerlink and the Councils of Gatton, Esk and Laidley were the major
sponsors of Stage II of the Environmental Park.
