The Gatton Campus provides a data storage solution to Science Schools (SVS and SAFS) and Gatton Staff. 

Home Drive

Each staff member is provided with a home drive with a capacity of 5GB which is for the storage of data.  Home drives are mapped as H: in your explorer and are completely confidential.

Shares

Each School within the Faculty is allocated a share available to staff of that school only for the sharing of information with other staff members. Permissions to folders on this share can be adjusted to limit access as required.

In addition to the organizational unit share an All Staff share is also available to all campus staff for the purpose of sharing information to others outside of your organizational unit.

How to get access

 Shared drives are automatically created during the staff induction process.

Backups

The shared drives are backed up by the Gatton Campus.

A backup retention of 2 months exists before a tape is overwritten.

RECOVERY OF DATA CANNOT BE GUARANTEED IF DATA IS STORED ON THE LOCAL WORKSTATION HARD DRIVE OR C: DRIVE.

IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT ANY DATA OF WORTH IS STORED ON THE PROVIDED NETWORK DRIVES. 

How to get help

Should a staff member have a support request this should be logged with the ITS Service Desk. Your call will be recorded and assigned an ITSM case number which will be emailed to you for future reference.  Your case will be prioritized and tracked to ensure SLA response times are met.  The helpdesk should always be the point of contact and staff should not contact computing support officers (CSO) directly.
