Campus Life

Students at UQ Gatton enjoy the benefits of a personalised educational experience and the opportunity to study among like-minded peers who share a passion for Agriculture, Animals, Veterinary Science, Food or the Environment.

There are currently 1410 students studying on the campus and 510 staff members. We also have the option for students to study via Distance Education giving students the added flexibility to manage both home and study commitments. We currently have 136 students studying via distance education. The campus also has 430 students living on the campus in the Halls of Residence which creates a hub of activity on the campus which means there is always something going on whether it is a night time lecture, sporting activity or a cultural night.

UQ Gatton has 160 international students enrolled on the campus from 36 different countries giving our students and staff the opportunity to learn about different cultures. This is largely encouraged by the Gatton International Student Association (GISA) who organise social events including International Dinners where all participants bring a plate of food from their home country and field trips to some of Australia’s most beautiful sites such as Mt Tambourine, Stanthorpe and Stradbroke Island.

There are a large number of events that happen on campus that both students and staff can get involved in, including Market Day, UQ Veterinary Students Association Trade Fair, Charity Week, Diversity Week, Research Week, Teaching and Learning Week and the Gatton Student Association Ball. 2010 also saw the first ever Country Campus Challenge where students and staff were able to run, ride or walk their way around 5 Km and 10 Km circuits. This year UQ is celebrating its centenary which has also seen the campus celebrating with Cupcakes and Bubbles in the Central Walkway and the upcoming Walkway Markets will be happening on Wednesday the 27th of October.

Regardless of your interest there is something for everyone on the Gatton campus, whether it is a sporting or academic interest there are a large number of clubs and societies available to join. These include:
