The symposium is organised by IUFRO 3.08 research group on ‘Small-scale Forestry’ (co-ordinator: J. Herbohn) in co-operation with:

- IUFRO 6.12 working group on ‘Analysis and evaluation of forest policies and programmes’ (co-ordinator: G. Buttoud);

- IUFRO Task Force on ‘Traditional Forest Knowledge’ (co-ordinator: J. Parrotta)

- EFI: European Forest Institute, forest policy programme (resp.: I. Tikkanen).

The Laboratory of Forest Policy of AgroParisTech-ENGREF Nancy, France (Director: G. Buttoud) is the local organiser.

The symposium is funded by the Local Government of the Vosges, as part of its policy in support to forestry development.
