Event Description

Full Description:
How are Australian school children travelling to school? And what factors influence that travel? This presentation provides preliminary results from the CATCH and iMATCH studies, two large ARC projects exploring children's independent mobility and active transport conducted in schools in Brisbane, Ipswich, Rockhampton, Melbourne and Perth in 2011 and 2012.

Amongst the findings it is suggested that New Urbanist master-planned communities may not be leading to improvements in the proportion of children walking, cycling or scootering to school, as compared to other middle and outer suburban neighbourhoods.
