Event Description
- Full Description:
- Are you working as a lawyer, studying law or planning to pursue a career in law? According to the 2009 study Courting the Blues, then you have a much higher chance of mental health arising as an issue in your life than the population at large. It's also more likely than not you'll know someone dealing with a mental health concern, whether that's a fellow student, a friend or a co-worker.
That's why Allens and the UQLS are inviting you to attend a special equity awareness event, 'Mental Health in the Australian Legal Profession', for the rare opportunity to hear what leading industry professionals with a depth of experience have to say about mental illness in legal education and the legal profession. Topics will include 'The Role of the Legal Academy in Promoting Law Student Psychological Well-Being', 'Mental Health Issues in the Australian Legal Profession - Part of a HR Sustainability Crisis?', 'The Importance of Positive Supervision for Lawyer Wellbeing in Private Practice', and 'Workplace Stress and Psychological Injury Claims'. Join us for an informative evening on Wednesday the 12th of September in the Holt Room to hear our panellists share their experience and tackle the tough questions. Booths will open at 5pm and the keynote discussion will begin at 6pm.
Light refreshments will be provided after the forum discussion, with the event scheduled to conclude by 8.30pm.
