Event Description

Full Description:
By Science, United brings together a panel of prominent members of the scientific community who belong to each of these diversity groups. Each of these panel members will discuss their perspective on unity in the scientific workplace. It is a Q&A‐styled seminar, with audience participation encouraged, and looks to address the concepts and misconceptions of unity through diversity in the broad field of science.

This seminar is an ideal way to celebrate the 10th UQ Diversity Week, with scientific research playing a large role in the prominence of the university and the hosting organisation being one of the top research facilities in Queensland.

It is a staff and student initiative with guest panel speakers and, through bringing together such a diverse range of members of the scientific community, embodies in itself the creation of dialogue across the perceived boundaries of diverse backgrounds.

By Science, United aims to bring together perspectives on both the positive and negative aspects of diversity in science, and how it shapes the worldviews of scientists when confronted with the issue.
