Full Description:
This paper analyses changing representations of the Tasmanian wilderness by examining how the journey of the notorious “cannibal convict” Alexander Pearce has been envisioned in a film production cycle stretching from Norman Dawn’s silent feature film For the Term of his Natural Life (1927) to Jonathan Auf der Heide’s Van Diemen's Land (2009).
