2010 Great Court Race
- Full Description:
- Now in its 26th year, the Great Court Race has become one of The University of Queensland’s proudest traditions. The 636 metre lap of the Great Court was first run in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the university, and is based on the historic Cambridge University Race, as depicted in the film, Chariots of Fire.
In 2010, UQ’s Centenary year, the event will take place on 12 May, with heats being held a week before. Aside from the prestigious Great Court Race itself, the event program also includes a sprint race - involving a “gift” style handicap system - and an inter-college relay race.
Competition entry is $12 for individuals and $26 for relay teams, and must be done online or at the UQ Sport and Fitness Centre reception by 5pm on Friday 30 April. To register or for more information, please visit www.uqsport.com.au/greatcourt
Come along to the Great Court on the 12th of May and experience an afternoon of tradition, excitement, and sporting excellence.
