Event Information
Description: The Queensland Heritage Council (QHC) is collaborating with Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) on an e-Heritage project that will help provide integrated access to information about heritage places.

The aim is to develop one internet site that will give access to historical and heritage information from federated research databases across Australia.

QHC is holding a seminar ‘The Digital Future of Heritage’ at the Ipswich campus of the University of Queensland on Thursday 5 November 2009. The keynote speaker will be Margaret Birtley, the CEO of the Collections Council of Australia, an organisation that is at the forefront of research into putting historical collections online.

An invited panel of experts in e-history, heritage and digital images will comment on Ms Birtley’s topic: Making Heritage public knowledge.

The panel discussion will be followed by a demonstration of the Australian e-Heritage project – a database search software product currently being developed jointly by QHC and UQ that has the potential to be a powerful but easily useable research tool.
