| Description: |
Have you ever wondered how migrants earning money in Australia could affect the economy of their home nation? In the spirit of UQ’s 2009 diversity week theme, BEL would like to challenge you to walk in another’s shoes and consider migrant issues from another perspective.
Associate Professor Richard Brown has been researching the impact that funds earned overseas can have on education, health and social welfare in the home countries of migrants. Most governments only consider the impact of migration on the local economy, but Associate Professor Brown has found that there are significant impacts on the country of origin of the migrants themselves.
Join us for refreshments after the seminar in the Alumni Court from 3pm |
