Event Description

Full Description:
A/Prof Stephanie Hanrahan (HMNS/Psychology) will present a talk entitled “LifeMatters: Mental Skills and Games for Sport and Life”.

LifeMatters began at an orphanage in Mexico and has now developed into a program combing physically active games with psychological skills. LifeMatters has been delivered to orphans, teenagers living in poverty, and gang members in Mexico; children and adolescents in the slums of Buenos Aires; inner-city youth in Ohio; coaches and athletes in Botswana; Indigenous youth in Hawaii; teenagers at an alternative vocational school in Brisbane; students in re-engagement programs in rural Victoria; athletes in PNG, coaches and athletes in Vanuatu; university students and community coaches in Tanzania; and a variety of groups in South Africa.

Results include significant increases in life satisfaction, self-worth, happiness, self-concepts, resilience, confidence, connection, competence, character, and relatedness; and a significant decrease in social anxiety.

No RSVP needed, All welcome
