Event Description

Full Description:
Information and digital literacy represents the core capabilities which fit an individual for living, learning and working in contemporary society(1). It is the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective use of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning(2).

The digital disruption is now. What do you need to know to learn, teach, work and live in the digital world? What do you know already, what should you learn, what are employers expecting, where are the dangers and the joys?

Four highly qualified panel members will present a brief outline of the importance of being digitally literate from their perspective: a researcher, a lecturer, an employer and a student.

Followed by guided discussion around what the panel sees as the things our students and staff need to learn and know.

1. JISC (2014). Developing digital literacies.

2. Association of College and Research Libraries (2015). Framework for information literacy in higher education. http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework
