Event Description

Full Description:
Eric Holt-Gimenez, PhD is an agroecologist, political economist, lecturer and author and will be presenting this seminar - Why do food researchers and activists need to understand capitalism? To fully appreciate the magnitude of challenges we face in transforming the global food system - and what will be needed to bring about a new one in harmony with people's needs and the environment - we need to explore the economic and political context of our food system. How are modern food and agricultural crises rooted in capitalism? What leverage does the food system have to bring about the transformational changes we need in our society and the global economy?
