Event Description

Full Description:
Developmental Genetic Regulation of Mammalian Sex Differentiation
Mammalian fetuses form tissue primordia that can give rise to both male and female reproductive tract organs. Thus, male and female individuals initially have the potential to generate both male and female reproductive tract organs. Differentiation along the male pathway is regulated by hormones produced by the fetal testes. The absence of these hormones from the fetal ovary leads to female differentiation. Our research aims to define the molecular mechanisms mediating the actions of these hormones in regulating mammalian sex differentiation.
