Event Description

Full Description:
Join us as we welcome Steve Haddan (BA, 1980) back to The University of Queensland to discuss his new book Our Game: The Celebration of Brisbane Rugby League 1909-1987.

Our Game explores the great players, the champion clubs, the great matches, and the rivalries and controversies prior to the arrival of the Brisbane Broncos in 1988.

Steve Haddan has - at various times in his career - been an on-air presenter, sports journalist, comedian/entertainer, actor, a best-selling author, award-winning radio host, and sometimes occupied multiple roles at once. He has built relationships with corporate Australia, with the fans in the stands, with the listeners in their cars and homes, and with communities across Queensland. His new book captures what has made rugby league so important to generations of Queenslanders.

In conversation with Professor Tom O’Regan, Acting Head of the School of Communication and Arts, Steve will explain how his UQ study helped him forge a richly textured and eclectic career, and will be followed by a Q&A with guests.

We hope you will join us in celebrating rugby league, its story and community, as told by Steve Haddan.
