Title:
Using an expanded genetic code to study ion channel function & pharmacology at the atomic level
Abstract:
Ion channels play crucial roles in the nervous system by initiating and propagating electrical signals. Consequently, acquired or inherited dysfunctions are associated with numerous diseases, necessitating a thorough understanding of their molecular function and pharmacology. Here, I will present data on how an expanded genetic code can be used to incorporate synthetic amino acids in ion channels in order to assess their function and pharmacology with unprecedented detail.
