Event Description

Full Description:
For full event details and to register, go to www.imb.uq.edu.au/forces-in-biology.

Please join us for a free two-day symposium hosted by UQ’s Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) and the Mechanobiology Institute of Singapore (MBI).

The symposium is devoted to the exciting new field of mechanobiology and brings together biologists, mathematicians, physicists, and engineers to highlight how mechanical forces generated and sensed by the body contribute to fundamental processes in health and disease, such as organ development, stress, and inflammation.

Talk topics range from the cell and developmental biology of mechanotransduction, to pathogens and their hosts, to computational and engineering analyses of cell and tissue mechanics.
