Event Description

Full Description:
QAAFI Science Seminar
Presented by Dr Karine Chenu, Research Fellow
Queensland Alliance for Agriculture & Food Innovation

ABSTRACT
Agriculture is facing great challenges, particularly given the impacts of climate change and population growth. A critical increase in productivity is required to meet the anticipated global demand for food. Development and deployment of innovative modelling approaches can help make the difference by projecting likely changes in stress patterns and crop production, and assisting breeding and agronomic adaptation to changing climates.
Dr Chenu will talk about approaches combining crop physiology and modelling that are deployed in her group to assist adaptation to climate change and find pathways to breed more efficiently for drought and heat tolerant cereals.
