Full Description:

Title: A computational perspective on the brain

Abstract:
What do an 18th century English clergyman, a blue and black dress, and the Space Invaders video game have in common? I will present a broad and hopefully entertaining overview of some of the key questions and recent advances in understanding the brain as an information processing device. The talk is designed to be suitable for a general audience, and my own lab's work will be mentioned only briefly.
