Event Description

Full Description:
The Edge Student Leadership Series connects students with inspirational leaders. These events are aimed at enhancing your career prospects by giving you insights from motivational speakers on their personal and career journeys.

There are six events per year, spread over semester one and semester two and are open to Business, Economics and Law students.

Guest speaker - Alex Malley FCPA, Chief Executive, CPA Australia and author of the best-selling book The Naked CEO.

Alex will recount his story of going from a suspended schoolboy to a disruptive CEO, and the leadership lessons he learned along the way. He will provide invaluable insights into career advancement, the importance of chasing your passions and how to build a big life.

Alex is responsible for 19 offices globally and more than 150,000 CPA Australia members in 120 countries.

He has featured on The Accountant publication’s Global Accounting Power 50 List, and has addressed the National Press Club Australia on issues impacting Australia's economic competitiveness and future.

As host of the Nine Network Australia’s series The Bottom Line, Alex brings leadership issues into sharp focus through interviews with fellow leaders from business, politics and the community. The interview he conducted with the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, was the most substantive ever filmed. News surrounding it reached an unprecedented global audience.

His best-selling book The Naked CEO was launched globally in 2014. Borne out of the success of the highly popular mentoring community, thenakedceo.com, the book combines Alex's candid, real-life stories with practical career and life guidance.

In addition to writing a regular blog for The Huffington Post, Alex is a business and leadership commentator on 2GB and Sky News Business, as well as a LinkedIn Influencer: an exclusive group of global leaders, which includes Richard Branson, Bill Gates and US President Barack Obama.

Alex serves on a number of councils, boards and government sector committees, including The Prince of Wales Accounting for Sustainability Project and the International Integrated Reporting Council.

From suspended schoolboy to disruptive CEO, Alex always does what he believes in.
