Event Description

Full Description:
UQ’s newest ensemble White Halo features in the first Sunday at Customs House concert for 2015.

The ensemble features Patrick Murphy (cello), Patricia Pollett (viola) and Adam Chalabi (violin) who are joined by Irit Silver (clarinet) and Lachlan O’Donnell (violin) to perform Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet (K. 581), Schubert's Trio in B flat major D471, and Prelude and Fugue No.2 in G minor, by Mozart after Bach.

White Halo takes its name from the halo effect that forms behind supersonic jets as they break the sound barrier. The group seeks to break barriers and explore new terrain within the art of chamber music. One of the most significant aspects of White Halo's mission is the commissioning of new chamber music from a diverse range of composers, including both established and emerging Australian and overseas composers. Before the end of its first full year of existence, White Halo has already commissioned composers Andrew Ford, Matthew Hindson, and James Ledger.

Entry is free and all are welcome.
