Event Description
- Full Description:
- Dr Tami Haase, Mining & Metals Environmental Manager with Bechtel, is presenting a seminar on 'Changing environmental performance culture in industry'. How do mining and major services companies reconcile promoting environmental protection while clearing land for construction, installing permanent plants and mining expanses of land? In this seminar Dr Haase will present Bechtel's environmental program, E3arth Challenge, which aims to build on and improve environmental best practices across the company. E3arth Challenge has three tenets: educate, engage and evolve employees and contractors. The program has shown that corporate change is possible and, ultimately, that it is driven by people within the industry. Dr Haase joined Bechtel in 2006 and manages environmental and health risks and impacts associated with the construction of mining projects. Prior to Bechtel, she worked for the State of Alaska's endangered species program; the United States Antarctic Division at McMurdo Sound; and in several Australian and American universities. Her PhD explored the weaning of New Zealand fur seals on Kangaroo Island, South Australia.
