New look, new features, refined and not reinvented.

The home page for UQ Events has been very successful since launch in 2005 and it is renowned for its simplicity and ease of use. When we look at rebranding the website, we have a single goal to make it better and support for wider screen.

The new UQ Events site is now bolder, beautiful and more spacious. It is built for the next generation of web technologies using HTML 5 and CSS3. The site will work great on web standards browser such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome and IE8/IE9.

We have added lots of new features such as the new What's On Today tab on home page and Featured Calendars that show all related events in year format. If you are new to the site, check out the Getting Started page.

Mobile

iPad and iPhone 4 ready.

We are happy to announced that UQ Events is now iPad and iPhone 4 ready. The site supports the latest web standards including HTML 5, CSS3 and Javascript.

The new UQ Events site take advantage of these web standards to deliver event information beautifully on the iPad and iPhone mobile devices.

You can interact with events information in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before.

The site should also works on other mobile devices that uses browser that embrace web standards.

Discover

Find your event on Google Map.

The most pleasurable browsing experience for finding event locations – wherever you happen to be. UQ landmarks, campuses, bookstore, sports venue, hospitals, museums, restaurants and research stations are amongst the places of interest. We've implemented Google Map location information for events located at UQ.

Maps on UQ Events lets you switch between the default satellite view to hybrid view, terrain view and map view. And you can pan, zoom in and out of the map.

Social

Share events with your friends.

UQ Events makes it easy to relay your events to friends and family. The site embraces sharing as a way to promote meaningful relationships between UQ members, the public and their surroundings.

Sharing can be found on any event pages. Click on the share button, and your event can be shared across multiple social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter, mySpace, GMail, Blogger, Delicious, Digg, Live and lots more.

You can also tweet and retweet events on your own Twitter account.

Or email your favourite event information to your friends and family.

Export events or calendars

Flexible

Export events or calendars.

With UQ Events you can import/export events or calendars to either in iCalendar file, Outlook iCalendar file or Google Calendar file formats.

The exported file can be use on your iPhone, iPad, Outlook, Google Calendar, Apple MobileMe and any iCal friendly email clients.

The same file can also be used on your favourite web applications such as such as Upcoming, Eventful, Basecamp, Highrise, Backpack, 30Boxes, Trumba and Zimbra.

Like

Rate your favourite events.

The Like button enables users to make connections to your events. You can already share your events on social media outlets (see above), and we have added a like button to allow you to show us how much you like the event.

Each user can only rate once per event. Users and event publisher can see how popular is the event. You do not have to authenticate to use this service. So there are no privacy concerns because you can vote anonymously.

Start rating events now! Go to any event information and the Like This button is on the right hand Event Tools menu.

My UQ Events

Manageable

Introducing My UQ Events.

My UQ Events can be used by UQ staff and students to promote their events around the University.

This new system will allow users to submit events for approval. You can also request changes to events and the removal of events.

The dashboard interface will let users check out the latest events stats and also manage your events. You will also see stats on how many users like or interested in a particular event.
