With UQ Events you can import/export events to either in iCalendar file, Outlook iCalendar file or Google Calendar file formats. The exported file will have the .ics extension.

What is iCalendar?

iCalendar is an industry-standard calendar specification (.ics) that enables sharing of calendars through the Internet between web sites and personal calendar programs. The format for the iCalendar object is based on the syntax of the [RFC 2425] content type. While the iCalendar object is not a profile of the RFC 2425 Standard content type, it does reuse a number of the elements from the RFC 2425 Specification. How do I export a calendar?

Select Export Calendar from the top menu. Use the calendar pop up buttons (From and To) to select the date ranges. You can also select a category (optional). Select a file format, either iCalendar, Outlook or Google Calendar and click on the 'Export' button. If you want to export the entire calendar, leave the date ranges empty and click on the 'Export Calendar' button. You will be prompted to save the file to your local drive. You may rename the filename but keep the extension (.ics).

  1. The From date will allow you to pick the starting date.
  2. The To date will allow you to pick the ending date.
  3. Select an event category from the drop down menu.
  4. Select a calendar format: iCal or Oulook 2007 OR Google Calendar.
  5. Click the Export Calendar button to process the export.

How do I import calendar into Google Calendar?

Go Google Calendar ( follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the Add link and this will launch the popup Import Calendar box.
  2. Browse to the exported file (.ics) on the File field.
  3. Select the calendar you want to import into.
  4. Click the Import button to complete the process.

How do I import calendar into Outlook?

Launch Microsoft Outlook. You can double click on the .ics file to start importing to Outlook. OR you can select the Import and Export Wizard from the menu. On the Wizard dialog box, select the 'Import an iCalendar or vCalendar file' option. Follow the prompt to complete the import.

How do I import calendar into iCal applications?

Read the instruction that comes with the software on how to import UQ Events calendar. iCalendar exports from UQ Events have been tested to work on Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird and MobileMe. The exported file should also work on web applications such as Upcoming, Eventful, Basecamp, Highrise, Backpack, 30Boxes, Trumba and Zimbra.

Is the export of repeated event suppported?

No, repeated events are not exported.
