Vince obtained his Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of
Queensland. With a foundation in mathematics, physics and electrical
engineering, he majored in Computer Systems with Class 1 Honours,
gaining experience along the way in digital hardware design, C programming for
embedded systems and C++ for the software element of his undergraduate
thesis. Thereafter he was awarded a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Electrical
Engineering for which he researched the application of photonics to
reconfigurable computing, renewing along the way an interest in electromagnetics
and communications theory generally and in accurate and efficient modelling of
physical phenomena. He joined the Earth Systems Science Computational Centre in
2009.
