Developing additional induction information
While equity and diversity information is provided to staff in the official University Staff Induction process, many units are beginning to design their own context-specific equity induction presentations.  These can cover relevant areas for the school or unit related to issues such as field trips, work placement off campus and student supervision, for example. Please contact The Equity Office for ideas and resources.  For example, the Sustainable Minerals Institute, The University of Queensland, has devised the following presentation:

EO Online Equity and Diversity Training

All new staff at The University of Queensland are required to complete Module 1 of EO Online, an interactive equity and diversity training program. It is recommended that you do this every two years as a refresher to keep up-to-date with legislative and policy changes. EO Online has been developed especially for Australian universities, customised for Queensland legislation and for policies and procedures of The University of Queensland. It comprises 2 modules, each of which should take from 40-55 minutes to complete.* Staff with a supervisory or management role are strongly urged to complete both modules.

IMPORTANT: Ensure you follow the directions at the end of each module to register your completion. Please provide your name, your employee number, your organisational unit and your UQ email address. The program produces an acknowledgement which should be printed for your records.

Access the program at EO Online

If you are a University of Queensland employee or student and you are not using the 'uq.edu.au' domain (e.g. you are accessing it from your home computer on a private account) you will require a special username and password.

Reports for Managers

Reports of EO Online completions are now available in the MIS Reportal. Managers and supervisors can access these reports (data is limited to their Aurion permission level) as follows:

  1. log on to the MIS Reportal site https://mis-xi-web.mis.admin.uq.edu.au/InfoViewApp/listing/main.do?appKind=InfoView?service=%2FInfoViewApp%2Fcommon%2FappService.do?loc=en
  2. select the Staff > Admin > EO Online Alerter Report.

Reports available within the EO Online Alerter Report include

  • EO Online Completions Summary
  • Details by Employment Type
  • Details by Classification Type.

* If necessary it is possible to log out of EO Online before fully completing a module. You can use your browser to 'bookmark' the page you were working on and return to it when convenient.
