Staff with Disabilities
The UQ Strategy 2011-2015 states
We will strive to ensure our students and staff are diverse and represent people from a range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds who bring expertise and strength to our teaching, learning and research activities.
Accordingly, the University is committed to the principles of equal opportunity and social justice, and supports the right of people with disabilities to work and study on an equitable basis with other members of the University community in an environment that is free of discrimination and harassment. The University has a range of policies related to staff and students with a disability.
Additionally, the Disability Subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee for Equity, Diversity and the Status of Women assists in developing and monitoring policy, strategic initiatives and services for students and staff with disabilities.
For Staff and Supervisors
Staff may have an existing disability (pre-dating employment) or an acquired disability of a temporary or permanent nature. Those who require some adjustment to their work environment to enable them to carry out the inherent requirements of the position should discuss this with their immediate supervisor. Information about external services that may assist in this regard is available from the Occupational Health and Safety Unit through the Ergonomics and Rehabilitation Adviser.
For disabilities relating to mental health issues, staff and supervisors should contact their Human Resources Client Services Team in the first instance who can then refer them to the Staff Support and Rehabilitation Adviser (Linda Campbell: l.campbell1@uq.edu.au).

UQ Traffic and Parking provides special need parking permits for people with a temporary mobility impairment.
