The Equity Office receives numerous calls from members of the University community about a range of matters. Many of these seek advice related to areas of common practice or interpretation of University policy related to equity and diversity.
In response to these requests, The Equity Office is developing a series of short information papers dealing with the most frequently raised issues. These 'Good Practice Papers' are intended to assist staff in considering relevant matters when planning or undertaking these university-related activities. We welcome your feedback as to their usefulness, other topics that you might find helpful, or how they might be improved.
They are not designed as a comprehensive guide to every eventuality, nor should are they in any way to be regarded as official policy. A number of university policies and pieces of legislation impact upon many of the tasks undertaken within the University.
Please consult with a senior officer regarding official guidelines and policy, and contact the relevant area of the University for specialised expert advice. Further information may be available from the Occupational Health and Safety Unit, Employee Relations Unit, and Student Support Services.
