Aspirations and strategies within the UQ Strategy 2011-2015 include:

  • Inclusion - We will strive to ensure our students and staff are diverse and represent people from a range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds who bring expertise and strength to our teaching, learning and research activities.
  • Seek to attract, support and retain high-achieving students, and prioritise the need to improve the participation and success of students from low socioeconomic status and Indigenous backgrounds.
  • Through intentional engagement, build a substantial scholarship endowment for able students who are financially or culturally disadvantaged.

Priority One in The University of Queensland Equity and Diversity Plan , 2010-2014 is to promote tertiary education aspirations of people from low socio-economic backgrounds in schools, communities and the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. Priority Two is to provide and widely promote multiple pathways to facilitate the entry of prospective students from equity and diversity groups.
