Disability Subcommittee of the Senate Standing Committee for Equity, Diversity and the Status of Women:
Terms of Reference
- Make recommendation to the parent Committee regarding the development of policy and strategic initiatives or services in the designated area of the subcommittee.
- Provide input to the University's Equity planning and review process.
- Assist The Equity Office in monitoring University performance in the designated area.
- Ensure the Senate Equity, Diversity and Status of Women Committee is informed about issues arising in the designated area.
- Additional matters that may be referred by the parent committee from time to time.
- Monitor the effectiveness of student and staff Disability Action Plans.
Membership
Chair – appointed by EDSW
Academic Registrar or nominee – ex officio
Director The Equity Office or nominee – ex officio
Director Human Resources Division or nominee – ex officio
1 representative nominated by the parent committee (EDSW)
1 staff member representing staff with disabilities, nominated by the parent committee (EDSW)
2 students representing students with disabilities, nominated by UQ Union
Membership will be based on broad representation of staff and students from across the University representing faculties and campuses and to ensure diversity of views and perspectives.
Additional members may be co-opted as deemed necessary.
Terms of office will be one year for ordinary members and up to one year for co-opted members. Two year terms will be served by Chairs of the subcommittees, who are also members of the parent committee.
