The theme for this year's International Women's Day is 'be bold for change' - will you be bold enough to be part of the change?

International Women's Day is held on the 8th March each year and celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women. While we are seeing great change for women around the world, we still need bold change to see true equality for everyone.

Workplace Diversity and Inclusion would like to encourage all areas of the University to be bold and take action to celebrate International Women's Day. There are many ways that you can do this - it could be as big as a an event with panel speakers, or as simple as a morning tea to spread the message about the importance of International Wokmen's Day! You could also profile the fantastic women in your organisational unit on your website, send an email to your staff to raise awareness of the day, be visible and have posters around the office or just have a conversation with someone about something you can do this year to be bold for change!

Whatever you do, we would love to hear about it! The University is committed to addressing the under-representation of women in STEMM, through the SAGE Pilot of Athena SWAN, and gender equity more braodly. We would love to celebrate the fantastic bold change happening across the University to work towards achieveing gender equality and inclusion. If you, or your organisational unit, are doing anything to celebrate and acknowledge International Women's Day please conatct the Workplace Diversity and Inclusion Consultant. We will then be able to record and celebrate all of the wonderful initiatives across the University!

If you have any questions, or would like to bounce some ideas about possible events or initiatives, please feel free to contact Workplace Diversity and Inclusion.
