Equity and Diversity section International Women's Day Lunch Forum

We had a great day celebrating International Women's Day and making the pledge for parity.

After a delicious lunch, we opened with an insightful presentation from Professor Gillian Whitehouse on gender pay equity from both a national and international perspective.

This was followed by an enlightening presentation from Dr Terry Fitzsimmons on his research on gender and leadership; which showed some truly remarkable information.

The presenters were then joined by a panel of UQ staff with a variety of experiences: Professor Gillian Whitehouse, Professor Political Science and International Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr Terry Fitzsimmons, Lecturer in Leadership Theory, Business, UQ Business School, Professor Iain Watson, Executive Dean, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, Professor Melissa Brown, Deputy Executive Dean and Associate Dean (Research), Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences,Marni Jacoby, Faculty Executive Manager, Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Dr Li-Ann Leow, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Centre for Sensorimotor Performance, School of Human Movement & Nutrition Sciences for a Q&A session teasing out the causes of gender inequality and how this might be addressed and equity achieved in the future. We had a really engaging and insightful discussion with lots of ideas, perspectives and experiences shared.
