International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia is about showing support for diverse sexuality, intersex and gender diverse people right across Australia — and the world to put an end to homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and other discriminatory and bullying behaviour. It is celebrated annually across the world on the 17th May.

This year The UQ Ally Network and UQ Union came together to raise awareness of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia and show off the rainbow spirit in the Great Court.

A big thank you to all of the staff and students who were involvd with the day and helped bring awareness to the issues that some sexuality and gender diverse people experience in society due to homophobia, biphobia and transphobia and show their support to all staff, students and members of the community.
