Staff representation

Some staff unions are actively addressing issues for lesbian, gay, transgender, transsexual, intersex and bisexual workers in the workplace. The National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) for example, has established Queer Unionists in Tertiary Education (QUTE).

Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying – UQ resolution processes

If you feel you have been discriminated against or subjected to harassment or bullying on the basis of your sexuality (because you are lesbian, gay, bisexual, heterosexual, for example) you can have your complaint addressed.

You can discuss your concerns with a trained Discrimination and Harassment Contact Officer (DHCO).

If you are a UQ student you can seek support from your student union (see UQ Union Queer Student Area above). If you are a UQ staff member, and a member of a union, you can speak to them for advice. Staff and students can also seek advice from The Equity Office.
