Brisbane-based chemical engineer, Leeanne Bond, has been declared the Engineers Australia 2007 National Professional Engineer of the Year.
Ms Bond's prestigious award was announced at the 2007 Australian Engineering Excellence Awards dinner held at Parliament House Canberra, 22 November 2007.
Ms Bond is the sole director and owner of Breakthrough Energy Pty Ltd, Chair of the Brisbane Water advisory Board, director of Tarong Energy Corporation Limited and is a member of Smart Women Smart State Task Force, Office for Women Queensland.
Ms Bond has extensive senior management experience in the energy and resource industries including the development of capital projects, project management, engineering design, business risk management, and recruiting.
A former Queensland Division President of Engineers Australia, Ms Bond is also a recipient of the Shedden Uday Medal for services to the profession of chemical engineering.
A key achievement for Leeanne was the establishment and growth of the Queensland operations of WorleyParsons Services Pty Ltd, from three personnel in 1996 to 600 in 2006. As the operations and management team developed, Ms Bond's roles changed from engineering design, project management and marketing through to general management and corporate strategy.
